Egger Excavating Limited began in 1963 with a single backhoe and a man willing to take a chance. Richard Egger had started out hauling water to support his wife and family when a friend in the construction industry convinced him to take a chance. He invested in a used Case backhoe and 50 years later, Egger Excavating has grown into the successful family owned business it is today.

He started out digging basements and advanced into installing septic systems. He soon expanded his book of business to include the curbside garbage and recycling in Glanbrook as well as Haldimand County. This still continues today as Egger Excavating has been a proud provider of curbside garbage collection in Haldimand County for 35 years. As the work load increased, so did the work force and machinery needed. Bit by bit, this one man show was growing into a well respected, value oriented business.

That one machine company has grown to include 2 backhoes, 2 excavators, 2 bulldozers, 4 dump trucks, a stone slinger, 6 garbage trucks, 3 vacuum pumpers, 2 roll-off container trucks and numerous other small machines and vehicles.

After Richard's retirement in 1997, three of his sons, Keith, Ken and Ray, all long standing employees, took their experience and knowledge to lead the company into the 21st century. In 1999, Egger Excavating divided into two companies, Egger Excavating and Egger Enviro. (See Egger Enviro)

Today, more than 20 dedicated employees make up the work force at Egger Excavating and Egger Enviro including Richard's daughter and granddaughter. Hard work and a genuine “aim to please” work ethic is a quality we strive to present in our day to day operations. Our service area has grown as fast as our business, now including Dunnville, Cayuga, Selkirk, Nanticoke, Jarvis, Hagersville, Caledonia, Mount Hope, Binbrook, Smithville, Grimsby, Winona, Stoney Creek, Vineland, Beamsville, St Catherines, Welland, Fonthill, Fenwick, Wainfleet and everywhere in between.

From basements to breakwalls, grading to garbage removal, there really isn't something we won't try.
